… It could be that the current explosion of talent and money is what is inspiring young people of such passion to venture into this world.
But apart from ambition, those who take on the roles of dealers and gallerists must also have management and marketing skills, as well as the ability to spot imagination, originality and appeal. Justin Rhodes and Cameron Munro of Whatiftheworld will attest that success to hard work. Their initial small gallery opened in Cape Town in 2005, leading to the recent opening of a more substantial art space in Woodstock. The partners, who met in New York, have discovered much new talent and offer exhibition opportunities to young artists.
